Overview

The 89NC tube bender is an NC hydraulic machine rated Φ88.9 × 3 mm in mild steel and Φ57 × 2 mm in stainless, running at 30°/s on an 11 kW drive with a 3520 mm mandrel.

Φ88.9 mm is three-and-a-half inch nominal pipe, so this size lands in scaffolding, pipe support and structural work. Bend speed is well down from the small models by design: pushing a heavy-wall Φ89 mm pipe round at small-tube speed causes wrinkling and inconsistent springback, and no set of dies will rescue that.

89NC NC Semi-Automatic Tube Bender — Common Questions

Φ88.9 × 3.0 mm in carbon steel and Φ57 × 2.0 mm in stainless. Φ88.9 mm is three-and-a-half inch nominal pipe, which is why this model is common in pipe spool and scaffolding work rather than in furniture.

The 38NC runs at 74 °/s and this machine at 30 °/s. Larger sections need more force and more controlled metal flow; pushing a heavy-wall Φ89 mm pipe round at small-tube speed causes wrinkling and inconsistent springback. The slower rate is deliberate, not a limitation of the hydraulics.

Yes. Scaffold tube is typically Φ48.3 mm and structural members run to Φ89 mm, both inside range. Maximum bend radius is 300 mm and mandrel length 3520 mm, which covers most structural bends.

A flat, level industrial floor is normally enough at this size — a dedicated foundation only becomes necessary further up the range. The machine should be levelled and anchored so that repeated bending does not walk it out of position.

Round bar can be bent with suitable tooling, but the process is different: there is no bore to collapse, so no mandrel is needed, while the force required is much higher for the same outside diameter. Tell us the material and section and we confirm feasibility.
