Overview

The 168CNC pipe bending machine is a CNC pipe bender for Φ168 × 15 mm pipe on a 6 m mandrel, 800 mm maximum bend radius, 12 tonne frame, 30 kW hydraulic unit.

At this size the bend is a slow, deliberate operation — 8°/s — and the cycle is dominated by handling rather than by degrees per second. A Φ168 × 15 mm steel pipe runs around 57 kg per metre, so loading is a crane job and the bending dies are handled the same way. Typical work is power plant and refinery pipework, offshore structures and large-bore pipe spool.

Pipe Bending Machine 168CNC — Common Questions

Φ168 × 15 mm carbon steel, with a maximum bend radius of 800 mm, 6000 mm mandrel length and a 12 tonne machine weight.

At Φ168 × 15 mm the machine is moving a very large volume of metal against very high resistance. Speed at this size buys nothing — a heavy part has two or three bends and the cycle is dominated by loading — while slower flow gives more predictable springback.

Bend, feed and rotation each repeat to ±0.1 as specified. Note that on very heavy sections material variation between pipe batches can shift springback more than the machine's own repeatability does, which is why a first-article check on each new batch is worth the time.

It is craned into position on a prepared, load-rated floor, levelled and anchored, then commissioned with your own pipe and tooling. Overseas installation and operator training are available and are recommended at this size.

Power plant and refinery pipework, offshore structures, large-bore pipe spool, and heavy structural bends. These are repeat parts in modest quantity where geometry has to be right first time because the material is expensive.
